Corndavon Bridge crosses the River Gairn at Corndavon, approximately 5 miles along a maintained estate track from the B976 Crathie to Gairnsheil road.

The River Gairn is located to the east of the main Cairngorm massif, within the Cairngorms National Park and the River Dee Special Area of Conservation.

The new bridge replaces a dilapidated and dangerous footbridge that crossed the River Gairn beside Corndavon Lodge in the centre of the park.

The siting of the new bridge is on the historic location of the river crossing and Tor Contracting made use of the pre-existing abutments, which were reinforced whilst maintaining the traditional granite masonry.

With a curved steel structure, locally grown Douglas Fir parapet and Scottish Larch deck, this bridge was designed to be elegant and attractive in its own right.

A precise and careful approach was taken with the detailed fabrication, to ensure it was neat and crisp as much as durable and robust. Preassembled before its dismantling and transport to its remote site, the bridge was installed with great care for the sensitive environment in which it sits.
